The John K. MacIver Institute for Public Policy was established to advance the idea that individual freedom, limited government, and personal responsibility are the best principles for the development of effective public policies in Wisconsin.  We will accomplish this goal by conducting timely research and offering new policy proposals.  We want our research and proposals to shape the policy debates that occur at kitchen tables and water coolers, and in board rooms, government buildings, and taverns across Wisconsin.  The MacIver Institute will steadfastly maintain our intellectual independence from special interests and the government.

The MacIver Institute will:

  • Generate intellectual ammunition
  • Shape the policy debate through timely research
  • Disseminate conservative ideas creatively
  • Become a respected source of ideas
  • Maintain our independence from special interests
  • Actively collaborate with state and national allies
